Answering the question “How to stop hair loss” is a complex question to answer. There can be multiple reasons as to why you may find yourself losing hair – and each reason will have a different remedy or approach.

Some causes, such as Alopecia Areata for example, have no known cure - and as yet there are no definitive conclusions as to why your immune system is attacking your hair follicles.

But other reasons such as stress, lifestyle, medication, pregnancy and the menopause can all cause or contribute toward increased hair loss or shedding – and they can often be helped with simple changes to our daily habits or haircare routines.

One of the most common causes of many women is menopause. Menopause will affect all women at some stage in their lives; and as studies from the American Society of Dermatology show, over 40% of all women will experience some form of visible hair loss by the time they are 40 years old.

The reason hair loss or thinning will occur, in this case, is due to hormonal imbalance and the decreased production of estrogen and progesterone. Often women who have just had a baby will also experience postpartum hair loss because of similar reasons relating to this hormonal change.

In addition, Mothers will also have a new baby to look after - meaning stress and lack of self-care may also be exacerbating the entirely normal postpartum hair shedding process.

Sometimes even extreme stress alone can be enough to cause hair loss for people of any age. Your teens can suffer too; perhaps due to intense exam stress, causing their hair to shed and the appearance of a bald patch or receding hairline to appear.

But it’s not all doom and gloom; there are things you can do to help take care of yourself, as well as your hair.

Diet

Having a healthy and balanced diet is integral for general wellbeing as well as healthy hair, skin and nails.

Make sure you are consuming a variety of omega fatty acids and protein-rich foods help contribute to the prevention of the hair becoming dry, brittle and prone to breakage. Foods rich in Biotin and B vitamins have been shown to be helpful in stimulating healthy hair growth.

Some great vegan-friendly additions may include:

Nuts . Legumes & Lentils . Broccoli . Nutritional Yeast

      Scalp Massage

Scalp Massage, according to The Hair Growth Report, is a relaxing way to stimulate blood flow to the scalp – helping to oxygenate the hair follicles.

Applying the BAMbeautiful Densifying Scalp Tonic daily gives you the perfect excuse, to not only to apply proven hair density ingredients to your scalp but to massage the scalp daily as you work the product in.

       Relaxation

Setting aside a small amount of time every day to destress and lower cortisol levels can also help. From a 15-minute scalp massage to a cosy half an hour reading your favourite book or magazine, you can help to take your mind off daily stresses and allow yourself to unwind and be kind to yourself.

i struggled with postpartum hair loss my first pregnancy. When I got pregnant again it became a driving source of anxiety that I was going to lose my hair. I had a somewhat breakdown in my obgyn’s office after I had my daughter and she recommended a postpartum hair vitamin supplement meant to replenish vitamins shed and it actually really ended up helping me. I take the baby blues one (www.babyblues.care) . Nothing is going to be a cure all but it has helped my hair not feel so thin and dry and with the regrowth.
